Kicking the Summer off with some Fun!

Surette lab members had fun participating in the BBS picnic this year. They had a beautiful summer afternoon at Dundas Driving Park with lots of good food, good friends and fierce competition during the Biochem Olympics.

Mike even got to show off his mouth pipetting skills while competing with the other BBS profs during the Olympics! Although we didn’t place during the Olympics, we did tie for 3rd place for the Spirit Award with the Burrow’s Lab. Thanks to all the students and staff who participated in activities throughout the year to help the lab clench 3rd place!

Culture for a Cure

May 28th the Surette Lab team called “Culture for a Cure” participated in Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s (CFC) Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History. Thanks to Saad Syed, Rachelle Szymkiewicz, Fiona Whelan, Mike and Ben Surette for their time and dedication inside and outside of the lab to this great cause. If you want to learn more about what CFC does please check out their website.

Summer Fun at the Biochem Picnic

A big thank you and shout out to Paul, Rachelle, Ryan, Saad, Richa and Pat for their competitive spirit, athletic and scientific abilities as they represented the Surette Lab in the Biochem Olympics at the beginning of June. It was a tough competition this year and sadly we didn’t place in the top 3 but the Surette Lab had a good showing over all tying with the Burrows Lab for 3rd place for the Spirit award. Thanks to all the who participated throughout the year!
